Who Were Mott the Hoople?

Mott the Hoople was a British Glam rock band active from 1969 - 1974.  They have been reincarnated several times since then but have never enjoyed the success of the early years.

David Bowie, who was a fan of Mott the Hoople, offered to write them a song when he heard that they were in danger of splitting up.  That song, "All The Young Dudes,"  Was Mott's only hit and still receives air play today on classic rock stations.

Mott the Hoople toured with Queen and several members played with Bowie at Freddy Mercury's memorial concert.
